“I need the toilet,” Mallory shouted down her ear.
“Mal. I’m drunk, not deaf.” She took a step back.
They huddled their way through the bustling crowd. Once in the bathroom, Gabi stood before the mirror and fiddled with the black dress that clung to her body. Satisfied she looked reasonably decent, except for her nude lips, she added a coat of lip-gloss.
She was just about to call Mallory when her mobile rang. Rummaging in her clutch bag, she took it out and glanced at the screen. Darion. She hadn’t heard from him all day. Assuming he’d been busy, she hadn’t followed her text message with another.
“Hi,” she answered cheerily.
“Hi, darlin’,” his low, sultry voice filled the line. It played havoc with her hormones. God, he aroused her with his voice alone. She heard a faint blowing sound and knew he was smoking. Her mind tortured her with an image of a half-naked Darion lying across his sofa, relaxing, the television or stereo on in the background.
“What are you up to?” she asked.
“Just listening to a bit of music.”
She half smiled.
“How’s your night going?”
“Good,” she responded.
“You missing me yet?”
“Always.”
The line was silent for a moment, and Gabi waited with bated breath for him to bring up the club. Had he agreed to the sale? She slid onto the counter as her stomach somersaulted. She wanted to ask him, but she was afraid of the answer. She prayed he was prepared to turn his back on his past, and start a future with her, nobody else in the picture. All she wanted was Darion Milano to herself for once, finally.
“I can meet you tomorrow night,” he said, which was all of the confirmation she needed. He obviously no longer had work at The Black Door.
Mallory exited the cubicle and paraded to the mirror. Gabi watched as she soaped and washed her hands.
“Okay.”
“Bye,” he said before adding, “don’t have too much fun without me.” His tone was playful.
The words filled Gabi with warmth, as she knew he was referring to other men, for her to behave. Not like she’d misbehave anyway. Darion showing his jealous side made her feel loved. Usually he got off on feeling jealous, wanted her to dance with other men, work herself up until he was with her. Now it seemed he didn’t like sharing her at all. Deliriously happy and full of energy, she couldn’t wait to get back on the dance floor.
“Come on, Mal,” she said once she’d ended the call. “I can hear my fave song playing.”
She and Mallory took up the dance floor until their feet swelled and their limbs ached. They then retired to the table to find the women from work had left. Lloyd and a few others were still present, and now, extremely drunk. They were eyeing up women at the next table, and making perverted comments. Gabi knew they were all married men, having spotted the bands on their fingers. Now the swinging lifestyle sort of made sense to her. Instead of these men cheating on their wives, lying and being deceitful about it, why hadn’t they partnered with someone who agreed to an open relationship, who had no problem in sharing them? At least Darion and Eva had been on the same page when married, and wanted the same thing—no restrictions.
“Shall we go to another bar?” Mallory asked, draining the last of her drink. “I can get us into the VIP section at Havana.” She winked.
“Sounds good.” Gabi picked up her bag.
They said their goodbyes to the men, wished Lloyd every success for the future, and ambled outside. Taxis were constantly driving back and forth on the busy street of bars, so it didn’t take them long to hail one down.
When they were eventually sitting in the plush VIP area of Havana, cocktails before them, Gabi examined her surroundings. The crowd seemed well-dressed, well-spoken, and rich. Usually Gabi didn’t particularly care for pretentious places, but everyone seemed friendly enough, dancing, giggling, and smiling. On arrival she noticed the drink prices were extortionate. However, she and Mallory had been offered anything they wanted for free.
“How do you manage to get into VIP everywhere?” She took a large sip of her fancily decorated drink. She gasped in contentment. It was delicious.
“Steve works with a man who is related to the owner of this bar. And as he knows all of the other owners, we’ve only got to text him when we’re in the area.”
“Nice.” Gabi nodded. “I like it in here.”
House music was playing, and the large dance floor just beyond the VIP section was packed with swaying bodies.
“It feels a little different without Suzie, doesn’t it?”
“Yeah, it does,” Gabi agreed. Suzie was their close friend, and if she hadn’t been pregnant, she definitely would have joined them on the night out.
Mallory shuffled on her seat, making herself more comfortable. “Speaking of which, we need to go and visit her soon. You know how she gets being cooped up all day.”
“I’m up for that. We could go to Starbucks in the week,” she suggested.
“I’ll call her tomorrow. Wednesday work for you?”
Gabi nodded, downing half of her drink and setting it on the side.
“So, Miss Woods…” Mallory’s face lit up in mischief. “Gossip time.”
Gabi folded her arms across her chest, smiling smugly. “Would you believe for once, I actually don’t have any gossip? I think my life may actually be normal for once.”
“Sweetie, you don’t get to have a normal life with a boyfriend like yours.”
“What do you mean?” Her mouth dropped. “Mal, he’s done with all of that stuff now.”
“Yeah. But what will he replace it with? What fantasy comes next?”
“Thanks a lot, Mal. I had actually thought about that, but knowing you think it too worries me.”
“I’m not trying to unsettle you, but Darion is clearly a man who easily gets bored sexually. Just keep him on his toes.” She winked. “Now he’s no longer fulfilled by that lifestyle, come up with something fresh. Kink it up a bit.” She grinned slowly. “And it’s more fun for you.”
“How?” Her mind whizzed through a million things she could do to ensure their relationship remained exciting, but she’d already experienced a lot with Darion sexually. “What is there left for me to do?”
“What have you tried?”
“Sexy lingerie, sex in public places, light bondage…Mal, I even kissed other men and women. I’m not prepared to push boundaries further. I can’t do it.”
“Honey, you don’t need to involve other people in your sex life for it to be exciting. Me and Steve try new things all of the time. Just the two of us.”
“Like what?” Her relationship with Lawrence had been so boring, and the sex simple. She’d never had to constantly come up with ideas to please him. Missionary, lights off was more than enough for him.
“Role play, dress up, toys, watch some saucy movies…the list is endless.”
“Do you think it’s necessary?”
“Gab, just because he’s turned his back on swinging doesn’t mean Darion is no longer a sexual deviant, and you can slack between the sheets. The way to a man’s heart is a full stomach and empty balls.”
Gabi keeled over as she burst into hysterics. “Oh, Mal. Since when did you become the sexpert?”
“Since I’ve been with Steve for like forever, and we went through a rough patch that almost destroyed us.”
“What?” Gabi straightened her posture, giving her friend her full attention. “You never told me this.”
“Yeah.” She lifted her glass to her lips and downed the last of it. “It became so bad we were only having sex like once a month. Sex just didn’t feel fun anymore. It was like a chore, something we had to do, not because we wanted to do it.”
Gabi shook her head. “You and Steve seem like the perfect couple.”
“Even the most perfect couples can go through a dry patch. Steve was close to leaving me. There was no intimacy, nothing. We may as well have just
been roommates.”
“How did you fix it?”
“By trying new things. By keeping the passion alive. The only reason I’m telling you is because now you’ve finally got Darion all to yourself, I don’t want to see you hurt and losing him. Just don’t ever stop making an effort in your relationship.”
“Hmmm,” Gabi mumbled, speech eluding her.
The cogs of her mind were going into overdrive. She knew Mallory was right. Darion wasn’t like ordinary men who were happy with getting their leg over. He constantly sought new thrills. Although he stated he’d be satisfied with just her and that sex would never be ordinary, what did he have in mind? How had she thought it’d be plain-sailing, that he’d give up swinging and just settle for whatever she had to offer, which judging by Mallory’s ideas, now seemed bland? She slumped in her seat, her mood turning sour. Perhaps there were other surprises in store, and maybe The Black Door hadn’t even been the worst of it.
Chapter Six
Friday evening, Gabi was lying on her bed with a book in her hands, when a tingling sensation raced up her leg. Placing her book down, she slowly rolled over. Green, smouldering eyes burned into hers. She hadn’t even heard him enter her apartment. Kneeling on the bed, Darion stripped his shirt off in one swift movement. Gabi swallowed, excitement building in her stomach in the form of butterflies.
His hands ran up her legs, sliding under her blue silk nightie. As it moved over her stomach, and then her breasts, Gabi inhaled air. Darion whipped it over her head, and tossed it to the floor.
“Good day?” she asked.
“It’s about to get better,” he said in a low, husky tone.
Positioning himself between her legs, he lay on her. He didn’t waste any time in claiming her lips. Gabi wriggled as the button of his jeans brushed against her clit. An achy need loomed in her stomach. She frantically searched for the button, and unclasped it. Every part of her wanted his rough touch. Darion assisted in removing his jeans and boxers, as impatient as she was. When his naked body collided with hers, she moaned. She could already feel the heat emanating from him.
She stroked her hands down the length of his spine, settling on his ass, and pulling him into her. When he thrust in deeply without warning, she cried out. She was pleased he was rock-hard and ready, with no need for foreplay.
His stare was intense. She marvelled at his perfect features, his gleaming eyes, his devilish grin. His hands came up and gripped the sides of her throat. She loved his aggressiveness, how much he needed her. As he bucked his hips, sliding in and out of her in a slow, teasing rhythm, she could see the strain and pleasure now etched across his face.
“You feel so good,” he murmured against her nipple. It hardened and tingled, and she grimaced as he swirled his tongue around it. Her breathing became laboured and short, as he knew how to tease her sensitive parts.
She arched her back, pushing her groin upwards, wanting him harder and faster. Heat swept sinuously through her veins, her whole body throbbing with pleasure. Darion took a breast in his mouth, his suction hard. His tongue lapped away greedily.
“Ah…”
She mumbled incoherently, unable to form a sentence as lust assailed her. He worked his full length in and out of her repeatedly. When his face was before hers, she opened her mouth to allow his tongue to roam in. He kissed gently and then more powerfully.
Throwing her head back in despair, she concentrated on controlling her climax, not wanting it to end.
“Gabi…” he grimaced, the cords of his neck taut. His body was drenched in sweat as he slammed into her forcefully and urgently. “Fuuuck…”
Grabbing hold of her hips, he rolled over so he was on his back. Straddling him, she traced her palms over his firm chest. The sight of his delicious body caused her internal muscles to tighten around him. Lifting herself up, she gently lowered back onto him. Her head rolled back on a satisfied groan. Continuing to rock backwards and forwards, she loved every pleasured grunt that escaped his mouth.
“Faster, darlin’,” his voice was hoarse. “Harder…that’s it.”
As commanded, she picked up her pace. Her buttocks slapped against his thighs loudly. It was so good it was almost unbearable. The length and width of his cock fit her snugly. He thrust upwards, filling her as deep as possible. Gabi squeezed her eyelids shut in pure ecstasy.
She bit down painfully on her lip as he gripped her waist, taking control. He bucked upwards, his slams even faster. Her body shivered in delight as the pressure began to build.
Her toes curled, her lungs heaving. His hands caressed her heavy, tender breasts, massaging them, his fingertips tweaking her nipples.
“I’m close,” she panted, knowing he was too. She could feel him swelling and pulsating inside her.
“Not yet.”
With their bodies still intact, he shuffled over and opened the bedside drawer. She heard the buzzing sound of the bullet-shaped vibrator. When it met her clit, she writhed fervently. Her hands balled into fists. It was too much. Her whole body tingled and trembled. With the fast vibrations shooting between her legs, and Darion’s relentless thrusting, she screamed out.
“Now!” she whimpered.
She shattered around him on a loud cry, riding him as she orgasmed in sharp, intense waves. Darion followed, clamping her to him, pushing into her a few final times. Throbbing inside her, he shuddered and grunted before his body went limp.
She collapsed on him, her heart racing wildly, her body soaked in sweat, and her muscles aching. They lay in a shattered heap, trying to catch their breath. Darion fidgeted and the buzzing sound of the toy stopped.
Exhaling on a satisfied sigh, she knew she could rest in his arms forever. When she gained some energy, she began stroking his bicep gently. His fingers were in her hair, the circular motions making her sleepy.
As silence hung in the air, she wondered if Darion had given much thought to their future. They had met one another’s families, but what was next? Did he want the same things she did: marriage, children? She’d tried to bring up the conversation in the past, however, he’d dodged it. She’d hate to feel she was wasting her time chasing things he didn’t want.
“Darion.” She built up the courage to ask. “Would you ever get married again, or has Eva put you off?”
“Eva put me off a lot of things. Now, she doesn’t have that power.”
“So you would get married again?”
“Why not?”
“What about a family, and a nice, big house?” she teased.
“Are you hinting something, Gabriella Woods?”
“No. I just want to know if you ever think about those things.”
“I want all of those things with you,” his tone was serious.
“Do you think we could have all of that?”
“Why couldn’t we?”
She shrugged a shoulder. “Sometimes I don’t think we’re compatible.”
“What do you mean?”
“Sexually.”
“Gabi.” He softly chuckled. “Were you not present just then? Didn’t you feel what I did?”
“Yeah, I did…but I don’t think it’s enough for you, Darion.”
“Why?” Lines creased his forehead. “Because I owned an adult club?”
Gabi sat up and hugged her knees to her chest. “I’m probably the most boring woman you’ve ever bedded.” Insecurity stabbed away at her, making her feel like she could never compete with his past lovers, that their relationship wouldn’t last.
“That’s not true.” He shot her a fierce stare.
“I bet your sex life has been crazy with all of them.”
He hesitated and she knew she was spot on. “Not all.”
“How did you lose your virginity?” she challenged him, hoping he’d at least experienced normal, vanilla sex with at least one person.
He traced his finger along his bottom lip whilst deep in thought. “It was an older woman. A stripper.”
“See?” Gabi huffed.
<
br /> “It’s a good thing. She taught me a lot. Everyone I have ever been with has made me the man I am today.” He knelt over her and yanked her down the bed, so she was lying flat on her back. “Do you think I’d be this enthusiastic to please if I hadn’t experienced some great lovers?”
She remained silent, feeling her stomach somersault, envy and sadness overwhelming her.
“Would you rather me be inexperienced, clumsy, a terrible fuck, who’d had less partners?” His pupils flashed dangerously, and a slow, seductive smirk surfaced on his face. He pushed her legs open and ducked his head.
Gabi gripped the bed sheets when his tongue swirled around her clit, causing her breathing and heartbeat to increase. Sucking her gently, she wriggled in excitement, unable to control her fidgeting limbs. And then he stopped.
“I didn’t quite hear your answer,” he said, his voice low and husky. “Would you want me to be any different?”
Gabi hated to admit it, but no, she wouldn’t. She loved Darion for the way he was. She shook her head. Her lids closed on a soft sigh when he resumed to sucking, licking and nibbling between her legs. As he brought her immense pleasure, his past, the club, his ex-lovers started to fade away. She had Darion Milano now, and surely the future was worth looking forward to.

Darion
Darion could hear the running water of the shower and Gabi softly humming to herself. He jumped out of bed in search for his boxers. As he was pulling them on, his mobile bleeped. He snatched it from the side to read it, but it was too late. The screen went black as the battery died. Twisting around, he scanned the bedroom for an iPhone charger. Gabi had the same mobile. When he failed to find one in the bedroom, living room, and kitchen, he began opening and closing draws next to her bed. He shook his head in amusement as he came across the crap she collected: make-up to last her a lifetime, tons of creams, nail polishes, Yankee Candles, notepads, and a black velvet box.
Bile rose in Darion’s throat as he guessed what it was. He hoped he was wrong. His hands trembled as he picked it up, suddenly feeling sick with jealousy. The lid creaked as he opened it. His breathing suspended for a moment. There it was, a white gold band with a huge square diamond in the middle sparkling up at him—her engagement ring.
